A video I made for OpenElectives OE204 - Being Idle.

Have you thought about the different units that people use to measure time? For a canteen worker at the train station, it might be a 1:20pm train that says it's lunch time or a 5:10pm train to signal his shift has ended. For a school kid, its the extended ringing of the bell to indicate lunch time. But all of this is very personal and specific to the person.

The unit of time for mothers and caretakers, are not hours and minutes but their children. Their entire world revolves around their children, as does their leisure time. Through research, this work explores idle time and more specifically the quality of idle time these mothers have. Like a pinwheel that is in constant motion in an airstream, mothers and caretakers work tirelessly throughout the day for the upbringing of their children.

Well? What is offcentre?

I don't really know! I am still finding it out. I usually put up some of the works that I do on Instagram and... that's it!
But this blog is where I will put my reflections on what I am being taught in my design school and then some more stuff that I make, that I find cool, or maybe a review or something!
